Creative Commons policy

Creative Commons policy

The Saltaire World Heritage Education Association (SWHEA) tries to allow wide reuse of information on collection objects and related content to promote the Saltaire Collection.

To enable this SWHEA has adopted Creative Commons content licenses that enable reuse of some of our website content by audiences. An appropriate notice is displayed where content is covered by a Creative Commons licence.

Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)

Where indicated, some of our content is covered by the CC BY_NC-SA 4.0 licence which specifies the following:

You may copy, display and share material from our website, including derivative works, in any format provided that:

  • BY (Attribution): you must give us credit in the way described below (see Attribitution below).
  • NC (Non-commercial): the material must not be used for commercial purposes (see Non-commerical below).
  • SA (ShareAlike): any derived works must be distributed under a license identical to the license that governs our work.

Attribution

When reusing our website content you should include the following text in your attribution:

  • Author or creator of the content.
  • Name of the copyright holder.
  • Details of the Creative Commons licence under which the content is reused.
  • Link to the page on our website from which the content was taken.
  • Details of any alterations to the content (cropping of images, extracted quotations etc.).

Non-commercial

Creative Commons defines commercial use as ‘reproducing a work in any manner that is primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation’.

Examples of commercial use include (but are not limited to):

  • Use in a product or service that is commercial, such as books and journals.
  • Use that promotes, advertises or markets a product or service that is commercial.
  • Use by charities, including the trading arms of charities.

Examples of non-commercial use include (but are not limited to):

  • Educational and classroom use.
  • Free-entry events that are primarily educational, including promotional material for such events.
  • Use in websites that are primarily personal, academic or research-oriented and that are not undertaking commercial activity.
  • Use on personal social media accounts, unless the individual is promoting themselves commercially.
  • Use in a public space so long as the use is not promoting a commercial product or service.
