C2b-181.1: Painting of Salts Mill and Saltaire 1860s

The Saltaire Collection is managed by a charity, the Saltaire World Heritage Education Association (SWHEA).

Thanks to National Lottery Players, SWHEA has been granted £249,000 from the National Heritage Lottery Fund Grant to initiate the ‘Opening Up the Saltaire Collection’ project.

The project will involve working closely with a wide range of community groups, local residents and Shipley College. The project will improve access to the 7000+ items in the Saltaire Collection. A new Community, Arts, Heritage and Future Technology Centre in Saltaire will provide exhibition space, a bespoke store and a researchers’ area for the Collection.

The project will use these spaces to provide free access to co-produced displays, encourage a wider range of people to become involved in Saltaire’s heritage, and ensure Saltaire’s heritage is better identified and understood.

To help us do all of that we are offering two paid roles.

Project Manager

A full time role for 2 years managing the implementation of the ‘Opening Up the Saltaire Collection’ project.

The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the project. This includes the design and fit out of the collections store, research facilities and public display space, community collaboration and coproduction, stakeholder liaison, risk and budget management and operational readiness for opening.

External Evaluation Consultant

A fixed budget to provide an evaluation service over the two years of the project.

Based on the project’s outputs and the key outcomes, the Consultant will create: an overall evaluation plan; base line assessments of the levels of influence on the project from the community advisory groups; impact assessments to evaluate the progress, changes, and benefits of the project to each participating group.
